Twister (Bellapiscis medius)

Twister (Bellapiscis medius) is a small fish endemic to New Zealand found in rock pools in intertidal zone where they feed on small molluscs and crustaceans. Individuals grow up to about 7cm. An unusual characteristic that is an adaptation to life in intertidal rock pools is the ability to breathe air. Twister are common throughout New Zealand.
