Neptune's necklace (Hormosira banksii) is a common brown algae in the Southern Hemisphere found from New South Wales to Stuart Island. It has bead like structures that give it its common name and is found around the low tide mark particularly on rocky coastlines. The individual 'beads' are about 1cm diameter on average.

This example was observed at Lochmara Bay.
