Karamū (Coprosma robusta) is a fast growing native shrub to small tree with large, shiny leaves, and small, bright orange berries. Karamū is widespread throughout New Zealand, with the seeds dispersed by birds which feed on the berries. Flowers are borne on separate male and female plants, with wind pollination. Karamū is a member of the coffee family (Rubiaceae) and various parts of the plant have a range of traditional Māori uses.
