Leaves are small and scale like, overlapping along the stems. Flowers are small, yellow, at the tips of stems. Seeds are dispersed by the wind.
The genus Helichrysum is part of the Asteraceae or daisy family, with a number of endemic species, many of them found in alpine areas.
