Broadleaf or Kapuaka (Griselinia littoralis) is a common native tree found throughout New Zealand, with oval leathery leaves. It can be found in a wide variety of habitats, from forest understorey, to open country.
This example is a young sapling photographed in Mount Richmond Forest Park at Butchers Flat.
