Kakaha or Bush Lily (Astelia fragrans) is New Zealand's most common species of Astelia, found throughout the country on the forest floor amongst native bush. The botanical name is due to the fragrance of the flowers. When the berries mature, they turn orange. The plant is widely available as a garden plant from nurseries.
This example was observed at Pine Valley in Mount Richmond Forest Park.
