Pholiota aurivella

Pholiota aurivella is a species of fungi found particularly in NZ native forests. It is also found in Britain, Europe, Asia and North America.
The fungus typically appears in groups on decaying wood in Autumn.
This example is seen growing on poplar in the Sutherland Stream area of the Wither Hills Farm Park.
