Armillaria limonea is a native fungus found in beech forest that is pathogenic to some native trees and Pinus radiata. The fungus forms large clusters of mushroom fruiting bodies with a lemon yellow colour covered in scales which give a speckled appearance.

This example was observed in Lees Creek in mountain beech forest.
