Backobourkia brouni

Last Modified: 12-3-2019 8:34

Backobourkia brouni is a large orbweaver spider native to New Zealand and Australia. The spider weaves a typical orb shaped web between branches or shrubs. During daylight hours, the spider may remain hidden near the edge of the web, although this example was observed to be active during the day. The species tends to be non-agressive being inclined to attempt to hide when disturbed.

This example was observed within the Sutherland Stream covenant area of the Wither Hills.
