The Saxton River is a tributary of the Acheron River, with its source in unnamed ranges near Waihopai Saddle in the Molesworth area of Marlborough. The river flows south for about 24 kilometres from its source to its confluence with the Acheron River. About a kilometre upstream of its confluence, a single lane bridge crosses the river on the Acheron Road. Several DOC huts can be found along the river as it forms part of the unmarked Leatham Molesworth tramping route. Stock are grazed on the river flats as part of the Molesworth farming operation.
