The Grey River is a tributary of the Awatere River, with its source in the Back Grey Hills to the north of the Awatere, and its confluence near Upcott Station.
The riparian margins of the Grey River are significant for having the largest population of endemic northern pink broom in Marlborough.
The Awatere Valley Road crosses the Grey River near Upcott Station via a single lane concrete bridge.
