Located approximately 100km west of Blenheim, the Rainbow Ski area provides a popular destination for winter recreation. The Rainbow Valley is a high alpine area rising up above the upper reaches of the Wairau River. Snow making machines are used to supplement natural snow fall, and there are slopes suitable for both beginners and more experienced skiers. Lessons and ski hire are available, and regular transport from Blenheim is available during the season.
