I am proud to say that our Multicultural was a big success!
We were glad do see everything happening after months planing the Festival. This year, we had a good coverage on the media and also had an advertisement (calling for the Festival) on the Radio (Classic Hits) in six different languages, with a great response from the public.
The weather was in our favor and it was a beautiful day. It was amazing to see the colours and the happy atmosphere, and we have a great range of performers from so many different countries. The dance and music was outstanding and I saw some people arriving at 11am and leaving by the time the last performer was on stage. I had people coming to me and saying that the quality of our performers this year was very high.
We also had no problem regarding food. A great variety of food was displayed and everyone was satisfied.
One of the good points was having a big number of information stalls such: Te Hauora O Ngati Rarua, English Language Partners, Human Rights Commission , CYF, Careers Services , Work and Income, Police , CAB , Womens Refuge, Ministry of Fisheries , Te Rapuora Health Services , Department of Internal Affairs, Inland Revenue , Community Law, Crossroads and Marlborough Football.
We are also happy that for the first time, The Marlborough Multicultural Group was part of our Festival with a fundraising stall. They are willing to work with us and we are planning to organize some events together in the future.
I would take this time to thank our sponsors: Family and Community Services, Marlborough District Council, COGS, Lottery NZ, The Radio Network Marlborough. Without them we couldn’t have this Festival. Also a huge thanks to our Committee members and their family members, who were here for the planning meetings also worked so hard on the day.
Thanks to all those who were there! I look forward to the 2011 Festival.
I will be including some photos soon!!!
